Why Only Samosa, Gulab Jamun, and Jalebi Are Blamed?— Dietitian Richa TiwariWhenever there’s a discussion on health or obesity, whether by the government or TV channels — the first things blamed are samosa, gulab jamun, and jalebi. How much sugar, how much oil, how many calories — that’s where the debate ends. But has any government or health department ever honestly asked —“Is the paneer sold in your city genuine, or is it chemically prepared?”“How many times has the same refined oil been reheated and reused?”“Is the mayonnaise or the momo chutney even fit for human consumption?”Today, 1 liter of bright red chutney is being sold for ₹15 — without tomatoes or real spices, only full of colors and chemicals. To make momos shine, industrial chemicals are applied. In the market, 80% of mayonnaise is just cheap refined oil and preservatives.Yet the government seems concerned only about the oil in samosas. Why?Because no one dares to ask the real questions. Now, the Reality of Fruits! You buy bananas, papayas, mangoes, pomegranates from the market — looking fresh, shiny, spotless. But what’s the truth? These fruits are ripened using artificial chemicals like carbide or ethephon gas. These chemicals are only for fast ripening, but in the process, the true nutrition of the fruit is destroyed.Vitamin-C, antioxidants, fiber — all weakened. On top of that, these chemicals slowly poison your body — causing acidity, constipation, liver damage, even risk of cancer. The government asks: “How much sugar did you eat?”But no one ever asks:“How many chemically ripened bananas did you eat?”“How many artificially ripened mangoes reached your home?”The Problem is Not Food, It’s Perspective!Health doesn’t come from merely counting sugar and oil.It comes from knowing what’s pure, genuine, and safe to eat.Ask the government:“Why are there no strict rules against chemically ripened fruits?”“Why silence on fake milk, fake paneer, poor-quality refined oils?”Governments only count sugar and oil,but they never ask:“How much are people walking daily?”“Are they getting enough sleep?”“How big is the impact of stress, lifestyle, habits?”So, the question to the government is —“Will you ever investigate what looks like food but is sold as slow poison?”Or will we keep hearing the same old line —“Eat samosa, you’ll become fat…”The truth is: Change the mindset. Not just food, change the thinking.Fitness doesn’t come from reducing oil and sugar alone. It comes from identifying and choosing what is genuine and pure.Saying this is easy:“Don’t eat samosa, don’t eat gulab jamun…”But the real truth is:“First, make the market genuine and safe.”“A healthy body isn’t built by just a healthy diet, it’s built by the right mindset.”— Dietitian Richa Tiwari
